Sam Knight returns with his second installment of Tips, Tricks and Traps. He talks about the competitive nature of photography in the world at large and the feedback we may receive from others. He uses his experience as the only film shooter in his local camera club and a recent submission to one of the club competitions to talk about the subjectivity of the people consuming our work and how we deal with the feedback.

The series includes episodes on Robert Johnson, Sam Cooke, Jam Master Jay, Bob Marley, Johnny Cash, The Miami Showband Massacre, Victor Jara and the history behind “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” how it evolved from an original tune by Solomon Linda and his family’s struggle for copyright recognition.

This time on the Lighting Lounge, John-Michael is joined by Vancouver based Fashion and portrait photographer Yvonne Hanson. They discuss a whole bunch of different topics, including Yvonne’s use of specialty films, photographing back stage at fashion shows and of course a bit about lighting.
Yvonne also has a great YouTube channel, where she also discusses some of the political and social issues surrounding photography.
